The Church in Exile and The Three Days of Darkness
Check out the NASA website for the Space Station and learn how common plants grown indoors in pots will clean your indoor air during the 3 Days of Darkness and beyond that:
Spider Plant: This plant is a great air purifier!
English Ivy: Removes airborne feces from the air!
Some plants actually release oxgen!
Look at these NASA favourites:
In the late 1980s, NASA and the Associated Landscape Contractors of America studied houseplants as a way to purify the air in space facilities. They found several plants that filter out common volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Luckily for us the plants can also help clean indoor air on Earth, which is typically far more polluted than outdoor air. Here is the list of the best air-filtering plants.
Aloe (Aloe vera)
This easy-to-grow, sun-loving succulent helps clear formaldehyde and benzene, which can be a byproduct of chemical-based cleaners, paints and more. Aloe is a smart choice for a sunny kitchen window. Beyond its air-clearing abilities, the gel inside an aloe plant can help heal cuts and burns.
Spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum)
Even if you tend to neglect houseplants, you'll have a hard time killing this resilient plant. With lots of rich foliage and tiny white flowers, the spider plant battles benzene, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide and xylene, a solvent used in the leather, rubber and printing industries.
Gerber daisy (Gerbera jamesonii)
This bright, flowering plant is effective at removing trichloroethylene, which you may bring home with your dry cleaning. It's also good for filtering out the benzene that comes with inks. Add one to your laundry room or bedroom — presuming you
can give it lots of light.
Mother-in-law's tongue (Sansevieria trifasciata 'Laurentii')
This plant is one of the best for filtering out formaldehyde, which is common in cleaning products, toilet paper, tissues and personal care products. Put one in your bathroom — it'll thrive with low light and steamy humid conditions while helping filter out air pollutants.
Golden pothos (Scindapsus aures)
Another powerful plant for tackling formaldehyde, this fast-growing vine will create a cascade of green from a hanging basket. Consider it for your garage since car exhaust is filled with formaldehyde. (Bonus: Golden pothos, also know as devil's ivy, stays green even when kept in the dark.)
Chrysanthemum (Chrysantheium morifolium)
The colorful flowers of a mum can do a lot more than brighten a home office or living room; the blooms also help filter out benzene, which is commonly found in glue, paint, plastics and detergent. This plant loves bright light, and to encourage buds to open, you'll need to find a spot near an open window with direct sunlight.
Red-edged dracaena (Dracaena marginata)
The red edges of this easy dracaena bring a pop of color, and the shrub can grow to reach your ceiling. This plant is best for removing xylene, trichloroethylene and formaldehyde, which can be introduced to indoor air through lacquers, varnishes and gasoline.
Weeping fig (Ficus benjamina)
A weeping fig (Ficus benjamina) in your living room can help filter out pollutants that typically accompany carpeting and furniture such as formaldehyde, benzene and trichloroethylene. Caring for a ficus can be tricky, but once you get the watering and light conditions right, they will last a long time.
Azalea (Rhododendron simsii)
Bring this beautiful flowering shrub into your home to combat formaldehyde from sources such as plywood or foam insulation. Because azalea does best in cool areas around 60 to 65 degrees, it's a good option for improving indoor air in your basement if you can find a bright spot.
English ivy (Hedera helix)
A study found that the plant reduces air-borne fecal matter. It has also been shown to filter out formaldehyde found in some household cleaning products.
Warneck dracaena (Dracaena deremensis 'Warneckii')
Combat pollutants associated with varnishes and oils with this dracaena. The Warneckii grows inside easily, even without direct sunlight. With striped leaves forming clusters atop a thin stem, this houseplant can be striking, especially if it reaches its potential height of 12 feet.
Chinese evergreen (Aglaonema crispum 'Deborah')
This easy-to-care-for plant can help filter out a variety of air pollutants and begins to remove more toxins as time and exposure continues. Even with low light, it will produce blooms and red berries.
Bamboo palm (Chamaedorea sefritzii)
Also known as the reed palm, this small palm thrives in shady indoor spaces and often produces flowers and small berries. It tops the list of plants best for filtering out both benzene and trichloroethylene. It's also a good choice for placing around furniture that could be off-gassing formaldehyde.
Heart leaf philodendron (Philodendron oxycardium)
This climbing vine plant isn't a good option if you have kids or pets — it's toxic when eaten, but it's a workhorse for removing all kinds of VOCs. Philodendrons are particularly good at battling formaldehyde from sources like particleboard.
Peace lily (Spathiphyllum)
Shade and weekly watering are all the peace lily needs to survive and produce blooms. It topped NASA's list for removing all three of most common VOCs — formaldehyde, benzene and trichloroethylene. It can also combat toluene and xylene.
Given enough water to survive the heat, plants do survive even beyond 3 days of complete darkness. I experimented with my herbs and my Golden Pathos, which I bought especially for air purification purposes.
After 4 days, all of the plants came out of the completely dark, windowless room just fine! Which plant did the best? Interestingly, chives (narrow, grass-like leaves), which I worried about the most. After four days in the dark, the chives came out thicker and more robust!
So yes, start growing your air purifying plants and your edible plants, and don't worry about the 3 Days of absence of light. They'll be fine! 🙂
When plastic gets too hot it starts to gas off and then melt. Stuck indoors during the 3 Days of Darkness, we want to avoid this hazardous situation.
The heat is going to be too strong for plastic to resist.
What did they use in the old days to smother flames? Wool.
Whether you decide on used surplus army wool blankets, or high-end wool blankets, this will be the material of choice.
Wool will take the heat and it will not gas off or have you breathing the nasty fibre-glass particles which make up welding blankets.
Please, everyone, look into 100% wool blankets for your window coverings.
Later, when we face the freezing cold temperatures, we can use these blankets to help us to sleep warm at night, or as daytime shawls.
Today's wool blankets come in 3 sizes: King, Queen, and Twin. Always get one size larger than your bed's size so that you have adequate drop on each side of your mattress to keep warmth in.
Get cheerful colours also, like red, so that your room is cheerful in winter's dark.
These blankets can be nailed or stapled with a staple gun to the walls around windows of rooms where you will be staying during the 3 Days of Darkness.
Beware of plastic mini-blinds, as they will gas off also. It would be better to remove these before hanging the blankets.
Marie-Julie Jahenny's messages for preparing for the 3 Days of Darkness do say to stay indoors and cover one's windows and not to look outside, but the emphasis is spiritual.
We are told to have a candle blessed for the 3 Days of Darkness. We are told to have a Crucifix and an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
We are told prayers that we can recite to strengthen us interiorly.
Indeed, our amount of faith and hope that we will survive, that God wants us to survive, is what will make the difference to our survival past these 72 hours of extreme suffering and terror.
Have you set up a home altar where you say your daily prayers? Are you reciting your daily rosary? These spiritual aids will help you to survive.
Like any good habit, prayer needs time to develop so that it is natural and a comfort that you reach for before anything else.
As
daily prayer becomes part of your routine, you will see how your survival is truly possible.
This scapular is to be worn hidden, as our Blessed Mother wore it, between layers of clothing. Made of wool and handcrafted in Europe according to directions originally given to Marie-Julie Jahenny. Imported. Actual size: 3 1/2 inches wide x 4 1/2 inches high.
This scapular is an honored privilege offered by Our Lord and Our Lady to lead us through the terrible times when the world will face the Holy Wrath of God.
Not only is the wearing of this scapular strongly recommended, but its exposition in our chapels and houses will give a very special protection.
The Holy Virgin presents the scapular to Our Lord who, in His turn says: "I address you My victim and also My victims and My servant, My children of the Cross, I wish to and I come to give you an idea and a deep thought:
"When taking Me down from the Cross, I was given to My Mother, that descent, that thought, that devotion is little known. I wish that by the reproduction of this scapular, it should enter the hearts of My children of the Cross, and that they hail Me by these three greetings:
--I hail Thee, Jesus crucified, to let me live.
--I hail Thee with all of the joy of the Angels and of the Saints on bringing Thee down from the Cross.
--I hail Thee with all the sorrow of Thy Mother when Thou rested on Her Immaculate heart and on Her lap.
"My children, any soul, any person who will possess this scapular, will see his family protected, his house will also be protected, firstly from conflagrations, which will never penetrate it.
"This scapular will crush the ungrateful who will blaspheme My Name in the house where it will be exposed. If an impious enters, he will be so struck that his conversion will occur. All those who wear it will be protected from thunder, sudden death and accidents. During the chastisements they will be protected. Whoever places it in the Holy Temple, will drive out the impoious and the profanations. Our Lord also adds that by reminding an obstinate soul about this scapular at the time of death, it will reawaken in it faith and conviction, that all those who will think about it and love it, will be spared the pains of the soul, that those who will wear it will be sheltered from all danger as if they possessed Heaven.
"And finally that this scapular will be like a lightning conductor beneath which the blows of just Divine Anger will not strike."

“I desire that my servants, right down to little children wear a Cross. This Cross will be small and in its centre it will have, what seems to be like a little white flame. This flame will show that they are sons and daughters of the Light.”
“My beloved, little friends, you will wear on yourself my adorable Cross which will protect you from all kinds of ills, big or small and later, I will bless them.
On the Cross, the following names will be engraved:
--Firstly, “Cross of Pardon”
--Secondly, “Cross of Salvation”
--Thirdly, “Cross of Holy Protection”
--Fourthly, “Cross to Calm Tribulations”
--Finally, the following prayer should be engraved on this Cross, “O God, Crucified Saviour, embrace me with love, faith and courage for the salvation of my brothers.”

Do you have enough water bottles stored? After the blood rains there will be six weeks of coagulation and decomposition which result in stench and sickness if we step outdoors.
It is best to stay indoors. Just in case, plan on a 2-month supply of drinking water. See how many bottles you use up in one week and multiply by 8.
Keep in mind that we will grow weaker as we stay indoors, so plan on buying the size of bottles that you can easily lift. The kind with the handle on the neck of the bottle are nice. Think one gallon instead of 4 or 5. Everyone in the family should be able to handle the water bottles without help.
Water will keep you alive, even if you run out of food.
Now is the time to start washing out those larger yogurt containers and saving them. Some plans will have to be made for where you go to the bathroom.
Flushing the toilet after the Blood Rains? If your water comes from open air water reservoirs, then you are better to shut off your toilet water supply and wait out the 6 weeks of prophesied coagulation of blood rain and stench on the ground outside. We are told if we go outside we will get sick, so prepare to stay indoors.
These containers pile up nicely, and you can use duct tape to keep them shut if you fear spillage.
