The Church in Exile and The Three Days of Darkness
Originally written as nine smaller books, St. Hildegard von Bingen's writings on the use of nature to bring healing is the result of life-long study.
Translated from the most authoritative manuscript left to our time, by Latin and Greek scholar Priscilla Throop, Physica (Latin for "medicine") consists of nine books: Plants, Elements, Trees, Stones, Fish, Birds, Animals, Reptiles, and Metals.
Each of these smaller books is presented in its own chapter in this compilation.
St. Hildegard's method of investigation of healing systems is easy to follow. She "names the items and tells their basic qualities -- whether they are hot or cold, dry or moist. Hildegard then elaborates on their medicinal value, or lack thereof, and explains how to prepare and apply medication."
This book is a MUST HAVE for life after the 3 Days of Darkness. Procedures seem easy to apply, with minimal utensils.
St. Hildegard (1098 - 1179) was a 12th Century wonder: a mystic, visionary, healer, linguist, poet, artist, musician, playwright, biographer, theologian, preacher (she was the Benedictine Abbess of the Rhineland for some years), and spiritual counselor.
What a gift this Saint is to us today! She has even been given prophecies regarding the coming Divine Chastisements, one of which many interpret as having to do with the United States of America:
"The great nation in the ocean that is inhabited by people of different tribes and descent, will be devastataed by an earthquake, storm, and tidal waves."
St. Hildegard, pray for us, that we may gain the greatest benefit
from the use of thy wise counsels.
We have lost medicinal knowledge regarding plants. It will be important for us to learn how to use plants and/or their essential oils for medicinal purposes after the Three Days of Darkness.
The plant in the photo above is lavender, the essential oil of which, if smelled deeply, opens up breathing passages and stops asthma coughs.
If you get the essential oil of Lavandula Augustofolia, then you also have a healing balm for burns to the skin and even the lessening of itchy skin rashes (such as eczema or psoriasis).
This essential oil should be in every first aid kit.
