Can Non-French Citizens Buy Property in Brittany?

David:  Is property in Brittany affordable right now?  Can a non-French citizen buy property?

MJJP:  Hi David.  Good questions.  Properties are expensive in Brittany, especially as they are in euros.  However, if you do a google search, you will see that there are also more reasonably priced properties in Brittany.  The buildings are usually older (made of stone) and need more work, and the properties would be more out in the countryside.  These aspects make these properties excellent for awaiting the Divine Chastisements.  We simply have to look with a different eye than most buyers.

Can non-French citizens buy land?  Yes, but the French government hates this, so there are extra taxes imposed on foreign ownership.  Make sure you talk with a notary public to get the information on how many taxes you will be paying each year and what the totals are.
